NMCI and MCEN access problems

Some users are experiencing problems accessing the CAC version on NMCI and MCEN. The non-CAC AI Tools Field Guide is available while we work to resolve access with NMCI and MCEN.

A short, quick-reference guide to using generative AI correctly at work.

The AI Tools Field Guide is the same course without the parts that need a card. The three portal tools are the same ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok that anyone can use, so almost everything worth learning, how the models work, how to prompt, check, build projects and agents, and use the APIs, carries over. We kept it clear of anything that would count as CUI or need an IL4/5 host, so you can learn as much as possible with no card at all.

What to expect

  1. Your browser asks which certificate to use.
  2. Your computer asks for your CAC PIN. This site never sees the PIN; only your card reader software does.
  3. The guide opens. If it doesn't, stop and close the browser fully before trying once more: on Windows, ActivClient remembers the certificate you picked, and on macOS, Safari does too, so a full restart clears the choice. A wrong certificate or a page error never counts against your PIN.

Careful with the PIN. Three wrong PINs lock the card, and unlocking it means a trip to the ID card office. If you're not sure of your PIN, stop here and reset it first.
