Background and recent work.
I began my Navy career enlisted in 2015 and commissioned as an Information Warfare Officer in 2017. I earned my PhD at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where I modeled and remotely sensed volcanic ash hazards to aviation.
I’m still a research scientist with h bar LLC. I’ve taught chemistry online at Rasmussen University since 2020, and I taught in person at the University of Maryland Global Campus for two and a half years. Teaching is the through-line in the tools Derek and I build.

PERSONAL
Outside work.
Rooted in Alaska. I get back to Anchorage and Fairbanks whenever I can, preferably with time to hike and camp in the mountains. I also make regular detours to D.C., Brooklyn, and Rota, Spain, where my husband is stationed.
Usually near the rail. Progressive house, techno, UK garage, and drum & bass — Kaskade, Above & Beyond, Lane 8, John Summit, Sultan + Shepard, Sub Focus, and whoever is playing next.
